JUSTICE SECTOR
Many opportunities exist to integrate prevention, mitigation and response to violence against women and girls (VAWG) into the justice sector. They include:
- Working with police, e.g. building their capacity to respond to VAWG women’s police desks,
- Improving criminal justice and legal processes, e.g. training justice officials on VAWG-related legislation and collection of evidence, domestic violence courts, and
- Legal advocacy services, e.g., provide information and accompaniment to survivors of VAWG so they can access the justice system.
Working with the justice sector also involves establishing and monitoring laws designed to address VAWG and protect the rights of women and children.
