Design Matters!

We now have ample evidence that preventing violence is possible. To create change, however, programmes need to be well designed and implemented. There are many important steps to— and many how-to guides on—designing an effective violence prevention programme.

The process of designing any intervention is not linear. The time and resources you’ll need to spend on each step is highly variable. Yet, as a field, we often operate on short project timelines and don’t dedicate enough time for design and planning. For your programme to have an impact, you must engage in a thoughtful, participatory process to define your needs and goals, the proposed mechanisms of change, and the detailed logistics.

On this page, you’ll find useful general resources about programme design. Check out more specific design, implementation, and evaluation resources here.
