Working with Couples on Violence Prevention
This webinar is based on the publication of a new Prevention Collaborative practice brief exploring the emerging area of working with couples on violence prevention.
It looks at three programmes using this approach in Africa: Becoming One in Uganda, Unite for a Better Life in Ethiopia, and Indashyikirwa in Rwanda.
Although impact evaluations of these programs are not yet available, the practice brief is informed by qualitative research findings, reflections from programme staff on the value of working with couples and issues that need to be considered during programme design. It contains lessons that may be useful for practitioners looking to enter this field and for organisations planning to expand into couples programming.
Elizabeth Starmann presents some of the key findings from the brief together with Jackie Namubiru (Becoming One) and Samuel Tewolde (Unite for a Better Life) who have worked on the design and implementation of programmes with couples.
