Faith4Prevention

Strengthening evidence-informed prevention approaches in partnership with faith communities and organisations.

Faith leaders and institutions hold deep moral authority and trusted relationships that shape how communities understand gender, family life, and violence. Faith4Prevention is our commitment to intentionally engage that influence. We work alongside faith-based organisations, faith leaders, and practitioners to integrate global evidence and gender-transformative approaches to strengthen their ongoing work. Rather than building parallel frameworks, we build on what faith actors are already doing— supporting the integration of effective prevention approaches into existing programmes, communities, and learning spaces.

01 From knowledge to practice: supporting faith actors to apply evidence in their own contexts

Many faith-based organisations are already engaged in responding to violence and supporting families. At the same time, there is still a need for stronger integration of evidence-informed prevention approaches within faith programming. Faith4Prevention addresses these gaps by focusing on the “last mile” of prevention work: translating evidence and learning into usable, context-responsive, and accessible approaches for practitioners in religious and community settings.

“We believe sustainable violence prevention is built through partnerships. By working alongside faith actors and institutions, we hope to learn together, share evidence, and strengthen prevention approaches that are rooted in local realities, community values, and a shared commitment to a violence-free world.”

— Binita Shrestha, Prevention Collaborative

02 Building bridges between theology, gender, and violence prevention across diverse faith traditions

Violence prevention and faith communities have too often operated at a distance. Faith4Prevention is designed to create structured learning and peer-exchange spaces for faith leaders, practitioners, and programme teams to engage deeply with questions of gender, power, harmful norms, parenting, and pathways of change. We will also review existing evidence and theological insights related to violence prevention, and translate these into practical tools: reflection guides, facilitation materials, sermon and discussion prompts, and programme adaptation guidance. These are resources that practitioners can use immediately in the settings where they already work.

03 Technical accompaniment and programme strengthening for faith-based organisations and practitioners

Faith4Prevention offers direct technical support to organisations working to strengthen or adapt their existing programmes using evidence-informed prevention approaches. This includes accompaniment on programme design and adaptation, theory of change development, facilitation support, and learning and documentation. We integrate family-based, gender-transformative, and violence prevention approaches into ongoing initiatives—working with organisations to ensure their programmes are grounded in the best available evidence while remaining responsive to their specific faith context and community.
