Working Across Sectors to Prevent VAWG

As the violence against women and girls (VAWG) prevention field seeks to reach more people through scale, there is increased interest in integrating prevention efforts across various sectors – including health, education, urban development, and justice.

Sectoral approaches offer the potential to address underlying factors that contribute to violence by influencing political, legal, physical and social environments, thereby creating enabling environments for other prevention strategies. These approaches build on existing infrastructure and capacities, address a pre-engaged audience (e.g. women attending health services, students in schools) and often have dedicated ministries or budgets.

This page highlights selected key resources and programme examples integrated across different sectors to prevent VAWG.
