Resources for Measuring Social Norms: A Practical Guide for Programme Implementers

This is a resource for programme planners and implementors who are engaged in norms-shifting interventions to prevent violence against women and girls (VAWG). It provides guidance on: how to measure social norms; different approaches to measuring social norms that are most useful; how to collect data based on accepted measurement approaches; and how to use the information gathered about social norms to inform programming. The guide takes the reader through a stepwise process to identify, select, adapt, and use a social norms measurement approach, and therefore helps refine their focus on social norms in a specific intervention. A majority of tools and examples included in this guide are focused on adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health.
