Implementing and Evaluating the Common Elements Treatment Approach

What interventions work best to prevent and reduce violence in families where violence and substance use are ongoing phenomena? In this webinar, practitioners and researchers present recent work on an evidence-based approach to prevent and reduce violence within high-risk homes in Lusaka, Zambia. The webinar provides an overview of the VATU study including a description of the Common Elements Treatment Approach (CETA) intervention. It provides examples of the application of several elements of the intervention, including the training and selection of lay counsellors, how families were identified, and how the study engaged with families. The presenters explain the results of the study, and discuss current efforts on scaling up and sustaining this effective treatment.
